Knee replacements happen often. So often that some companies have decided to try to find ways to streamline the surgery, and use existing technologies in order to cut down on the costs.

So DashTM has given us the technology to perform a knee replacement without the need for bulky technology. In fact, the technology is already widely used (although not normally for medical procedures) and can fit in your pocket.

I present the “iPod surgery!” (Click the link to see it in action!)

Dash – Computer Assisted Joint Replacement with the iPod Touch

For techies, this is “way cool” because it opens up a whole new field of uses for existing technologies, and I’m sure Apple is very happy. Considering this is just a way to publicize the processing power and abilities of one of their products.

Surgeons should be ecstatic because any way to make a complicated surgery easier is always welcome.

Lets just hope they charged their iPods last night.
